A DARK, INEFFICIENT SPACE
BECOMES EVERY HOME CHEF’S DREAM.

After living internationally for many years, T + R wanted a place to call home with their two daughters.

T loves to cook for her family (both immediate and extended), and the whole family loves to entertain. The kitchen is a space where they connect with their daughters, cook all-day (or all-weekend!) feasts, and host dinner parties, birthday celebrations, small groups, large groups, friends, and family.

They purchased a home with traditional detailing, a closed-off espresso wood kitchen, and old tile floors, knowing that one day they would renovate and T would finally get the contemporary, all-white kitchen of her dreams — a kitchen that served as not only a gathering space, but a prep space fit for a chef. And after years of dreaming, she knew exactly what she wanted: two islands, a dream wishlist of appliances, all the specialty pull-outs we could fit, two SubZero fridges, a coffee station, hidden fridge drawers, and lots of ambient lighting.

While T’s dream was an all-white kitchen, we knew that her spice-heavy cooking could create some casualties! Turmeric and curry powder are infamous for their staining properties, so along with the millworker, we made spice pastes to test out on the millwork panels and countertop.

Along with the kitchen renovation came a new powder room — a streamlined and ambient space with a ceiling-mounted faucet and custom backlit mirror — and a new pantry, hidden behind glossy white wall paneling. This pantry, with automatic lighting that turns on when you enter, was given a luxury treatment with quartz countertops and white glossy millwork to match the kitchen.
