CURATED CALM:
A SMALL KENSINGTON CONDO WITH A BIG HEART
This small condo in Calgary’s vibrant Kensington neighbourhood felt dark and disconnected from our client’s warm, welcoming personality. Our goal was to create a brighter, more personal home that celebrated her amazing collection of books, art, and travel trinkets while improving function and storage throughout the space.
The existing kitchen was the first item on the “Must Go” list. Glossy, dark cabinetry overwhelmed the room and drained its light. In its place, we introduced lighter finishes and a few well-placed millwork pieces that increased storage while providing intentional moments for display.
To unify and warm up the condo, the main living spaces were painted a soft off-white, creating a light, neutral backdrop for the client’s curated art + book collections to shine. The bedroom was reimagined in a rich terracotta, creating a moodier and more intimate vibe.
Lighting was fully rethought throughout the condo. All fixtures were replaced with layered, ambient lighting designed to feel more like the glow of lamps than overhead illumination, adding warmth and comfort to every room.
The result is a home that feels collected, personal, and inviting — an intimate urban retreat that reflects both its lively neighbourhood and the client who lives there.
